The 65 proposals of California’s state come into force in 1985 protecting water and food. This action exposes carcinogenic substances that caused birth deformities or any other reproductive disorder. The office overseeing the reviewed and published list of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (ORHHA), requested once a year, to the state of California, an updated list to publish these chemical substances. Who is affected?
Proposal 65 affects sold or distributed products in California, including textiles, non-perishable products, toys, youthful products, electronics, and electricity. In Mexico, chile inspection was intensified, regarding lead and heavy metals, however, this was done to other products like beans and rice.
The proposal explains, if a product has an exceed element, this shall be specified in the label with the following warning: This product has acknowledged chemicals, by the state of California as carcinogenic and birth deformities or any other reproduction maladies.
For a heavy metals analysis, there is the Mexican official norm NOM-117-SSA1-1994, for goods and services, a testing method for discovering cadmium, arsenic, lead, tin, copper, iron, zinc, and mercury in food, running and purified water by atomic reception spectrometry.
