The FSSC 22000 certification scheme is based on the requirements of the FSSC 22000, ISO 22000 and technical specifications ISO / TS 22002-1 for food manufacturers, ISO / TS 22002-4 for food packaging manufacturers, ISO / TS 22002-6 for animal feed manufacturers, among other technical specifications. Such schemes have also been endorsed by the Confederation of the Food and Drink Industries of the European Union (CIAA).
FSSC 22000 as a certification scheme recognized by the GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative), is applicable in the national and international market of the food industry in the sectors of food processing, food packaging, animal feed processing, catering, distribution, transporting, and storage.
To obtain the certificate, the organization shall implement FSSC 22000 requirements, plus the requirements of the technical specification which have the prerequisites program corresponding to the organization category (ISO/TS 22001-1, ISO/TS 22002-4, ISO/TS 22002-6, among others) and additional requirements which are found in the GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative).
FSSC 22000 also promotes in the organizations which implemented this standard, the fulfillment of the local legislation/regulation of the country where the certified site is located, as well as countries where food products are exported.
