Food Safety and Quality Management System

CERTIFICATION

SQF

A widely recognized system by the GFSI for the management of food quality and safety.

SQF is a certification standard for processes and products, which consists in an integrated food quality and safety system, designed for organizations to demonstrate their compliance of food-safety requirements. The program is applicable to different sectors of the supply chain like: Primary production, manufacturing, processing, food packaging, transport, storage, distribution, marketing and food service.

The main characteristic of SQF is its focus on the systematic application of HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points,) for the control of food quality and safety hazards.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SQF CODE

To obtain the SQF Certification, the organism must document and implement the elements of the system and modules of the corresponding SQF Code, in two stages:

  1. Document its SQF System:
    Prepare policies, procedures, work instructions and specifications that accomplish with every element of the system and the corresponding modules of SQF Code about food safety. In other words, “Say what it does”.

  2. Implement its SQF System:
    Once it is satisfied with the policies, procedures, work instructions and specifications are ready to accomplish with the requirements of SQF, must secure that all the documents are follow up and maintain records que approve the compliance of the corresponding modules od the SQF Code. In other words, “Do what is says”
